Dr. Rowan-Kelly, MD, FASAM, is the Medical Director at the Paramount Wellness Retreat. He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School in South Australia, where he subsequently practiced in both isolated rural and inner-city areas. In the mid-1980s, his practice focus turned to addiction medicine. He served as the Medical Director of a Mega-Clinic and was also actively involved in the development of Inpatient Opiate Detoxification services throughout the 1990s and early 2000s in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Rowan-Kelly relocated to the United States in 2004 to pursue his interest in Addiction Management. He started a 3-year residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York, transferred to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and after completing all equivalency examinations and residency, became Medical Director of Hazelden’s Oregon facility. He is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine, and achieved Fellowship status from the American Society of Addiction Medicine in December 2015. Dr. Rowan-Kelly has extensive experience working in urgent care settings as well as in the pain management area. He has settled here in Connecticut with his family after spending the last six years in Minnesota.
