Dr. Leigh Kelly-Rowan serves as the Medical Director at Paramount Wellness Retreat, bringing decades of global experience in addiction medicine and family medicine. A 1976 graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School in South Australia, Dr. Rowan began his medical career serving both rural and urban communities before dedicating his focus to the treatment of substance use disorders in the mid-1980s.

He went on to lead one of Sydney’s largest medical clinics as Medical Director and played a pivotal role in developing inpatient opiate detoxification services across New South Wales. In 2004, Dr. Rowan relocated to the United States to further specialize in addiction medicine. He completed residency training at both Stony Brook University Hospital in New York and Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. He later served as Medical Director for Hazelden Betty Ford’s Oregon facility.

Dr. Rowan is dual board-certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and holds the prestigious designation of Fellow from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM). His clinical expertise extends to urgent care and pain management, bringing a comprehensive and compassionate approach to the complex needs of individuals in recovery.

After several years practicing in Minnesota, Dr. Rowan has settled in Connecticut with his family, where he leads the medical team at Paramount with deep empathy, clinical excellence, and a global perspective on addiction recovery.
